Sardar ji is a drama film released in 1976. It has been well received by the critics and has won many awards such as National Award for 1984. He finds love from another woman beside his wife who also loves him the same way as the Sardar loves her. The problem arises when he finds that this other woman is also in love with the Sardar. He wants to prove himself innocent but there are many people around him who are against his dreams. Some of them are jealous due to their social status while some others are doing it for money. The Sardar's family members also try to ruin his reputation so that the other woman does not stay with him for long. However, all of this prove futile as the Sardar cannot be lied to or hurt by anyone else except by his own self. He proves himself innocent and still remains true to his heart even after suffering many hardships all alone in the end. The movie won the National Award for the Best film in 1984 and it was also seen as a major commercial success. The film ran for about 3 weeks at Bombay and 11 weeks at Pune. The movie was well received by the audience and there were many organizations that invited Ramesh Talwar to speak about this film. Many critics also praised this movie and gave good reviews for it. Neetu Singh and Hema Malini both performed extremely well in this movie and their roles were appreciated by everyone including the critics.
